Prepping Those Lips!

Ever tried to apply a matte lipstick to dry and flaky lips? We all have and know the result is not pretty! Before applying any bold or matte lipstick, to get a really nice, neat finish, prepping the lips is an essential step so today I thought I would share the tips and tricks that I can be found doing before I slick on a layer of colour!

No lip care post would be complete without a mention of the Lush Bubble Gum lip scrub which really is worth the hype. Apply a little of the sugary stuff to your lips to buff off the bits of dry, flaky skin so that your lipstick won't emphasise it. Alternatively to this, you can use a toothbrush to use on your lips, just soak it under a little water and get buffing!

The final step to get smooth baby soft lips is to apply a really moisturising lip balm, I use Maybelline's baby lips in hydrate but you can use any lip balm that you find really works. If you are planning on whipping on a matte lip, don't be afraid to whip on a non-matte lip balm, the lipstick should turn give your lips matte when you apply it. But if you have a lipstick that you really like but it has a matte finish that your not such a fan of, just slick over a layer of lip balm to get rid of that no shine effect and your good to go!
